Germantown, Tenn. (December 3, 2012) –

Bhavya Jha, a senior at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.

Jha is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Jha and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.

Jha is an exceptional student and leader. She holds a 5.43 weighted grade point average and scored 31 on the ACT and 2170 on the SAT. Jha is committed to a rigorous course of study, including five AP classes this year. She received the Dartmouth College and the Rhodes College Book Awards and attended the Governor’s School for International Studies and the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University.

A top student in every subject, Jha is a member of the Cum Laude Society, Quill and Scroll, Cliosophic Society, National Honor Society, National Thespian Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta. She also participates with the Debate Club, Model UN and the Contemporary Issues Club.

The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.

Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
